How Ford leases work: Ford Credit fees, lease-end purchase, and late payments
What Ford Credit publishes about its disposal fee, lease-end purchase option, late charges, and mileage, and which figures you still have to get from your contract.
By LeaseGuru.aiUpdated 5 min read
Ford and Lincoln leases are written by Ford Credit, legally Ford Motor Credit Company LLC. Ford Credit's lease-end material refers to the Red Carpet Lease agreement, which is where the lease-end purchase price is stated.
Ford Credit publishes a disposal fee amount and a clear waiver rule. It does not publish an acquisition fee, a menu of mileage plans, a deposit program, or transfer terms on the pages we track, so those have to come from your worksheet and contract.
Facts below come from ford.com as recorded in LeaseGuru's by-brand guides. Monthly offers change, so check them against your own contract.
TLDR Quick Guide
- Disposal fee is $475 on Ford.com lease-end material.
- Qualifying customers who purchase or lease a new Ford or Lincoln financed with Ford Credit may get it waived; the waiver does not cover excess mileage and does not stack with wear-and-use waiver products.
- The lease-end purchase price is in your Red Carpet Lease agreement or available from the originating dealer.
- Electric vehicles may not be eligible for purchase at lease end; Ford says to read the contract.
- Return overage is recorded at $0.20 a mile for Ford and Lincoln in our brand comparison.
Who writes a Ford lease
Ford Credit finances both Ford and Lincoln leases, so the lease-end rules below apply to either badge. Ford Credit's lease-end material refers to the Red Carpet Lease agreement; your own agreement is where your purchase price, mileage allowance, and fees are stated.
The $475 disposal fee and its waiver
Ford.com lease-end material lists a disposal fee of $475. Ford Credit says qualifying customers who purchase or lease a new Ford or Lincoln (or certain certified) financed with Ford Credit may get it waived. Two limits matter. The waiver does not cover excess mileage charges, and it does not stack with wear-and-use waiver products.
Buying out a Ford lease
Ford Credit says you may have a lease-end purchase option, and the price is in your Red Carpet Lease agreement or available from the originating dealer. If you have moved, Ford directs the purchase through any participating Ford dealer. Ford does not state whether a third-party dealer can pay off the lease.
Electric vehicles are the exception to check. Ford says EVs may not be eligible for purchase at lease end, and tells you to read the contract. If you are leasing an EV and want the option to keep it, read the contract before you sign.
Late payments on a Ford lease
Ford Credit says a late charge may be assessed if payment is not received within the payment period specified in your contract. It publishes no day count and no dollar amount. Past-due payments may be reported at 30, 60, and 90 days, and Ford Credit lists 800-727-7000 for account-specific options.
Mileage and what Ford Credit does not publish
In LeaseGuru's brand comparison, Ford and Lincoln return overage is recorded at $0.20 a mile with prepaid miles at $0.15. Your contract's rate governs.
- Acquisition fee: not published. It should appear on your worksheet.
- Annual mileage plans: no menu published.
- Multiple security deposits: not published as a program.
- Lease transfer: not published.
